It’s Not the Plane, It’s the Pilot! 2024-25 School Theme
Monday, April 28, 2025
Dear Aviators,
Welcome to the last week of April! It’s hard to believe that May is right around the corner. As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we have many exciting activities ahead, including graduation — a moment we are all eagerly looking forward to. At the same time, our students are working hard to earn their final credits before summer break.
We need your partnership to help your child finish strong. With the warmer weather, it’s natural for students to feel tempted to start their summer early, but it’s important to stay focused these last few weeks. One of the best ways to support your child is by regularly checking Skyward and Canvas together every couple of days. Families who consistently do this often see outstanding results.
With only a few school days left, let’s work together to ensure our students cross the finish line successfully!
1. Administration Message Link Here
Mr. Mansfield talks about how everything we do is saying something to someone. It is important to try to be as positive as possible both to the people around you and to the voice in your head.
2. Senior Graduation Video Parent Upload
We’re inviting parents to contribute videos of their graduating seniors for our graduation movie! Please upload clips—from their younger years to now—into this folder. These videos will primarily be used as B-roll footage to help us tell their story. Link here for the folder to drop videos in.
3. Walking at Graduation
We are so excited for our senior class of 2025! To be approved to walk at graduation, students must be on track for graduation and pass all required 4th term classes. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please reach out to your counselor!
4. Student Attendance and Accountability
Earlier this year, we formed a committee to address growing concerns around student attendance, particularly for those who consistently refuse to attend class. With support from our School Community Council, we have a dedicated team that has been exploring digital hall pass monitoring systems to help us track student movement more effectively throughout the day. Starting next school year, we will implement this system to record when students leave class, where they are going, assign bathrooms (to avoid students texting to meet at certain restrooms), and when they return. This tool will allow us to support students more consistently and respond quickly when concerns arise.
Here’s what we need from you:
Your continued partnership in reinforcing the importance of consistent attendance. As you know, one of the strongest indicators of student success is simply being present. This year, we’ve seen an increase in tardiness, truancy, and a general decline in accountability around class attendance.
We kindly ask that you talk with your student about the expectations moving forward. Please note that consequences for repeated attendance issues will become more immediate and meaningful as we work to support every student in meeting expectations.
Many of you have asked for more proactive steps in this area, and we want you to know—we hear you, and we’re acting. Together, we’re building a culture of responsibility and long-term success.
More details will be shared in the coming weeks. Thank you for your ongoing support!
5. Boundary Adjustment
The ASD Board of Education voted to open a formal boundary study for a boundary adjustment that could impact our school. The boundary adjustment that is being considered is only for the Wildflower area in north Saratoga Springs to align the secondary boundaries (Sage Canyon, Vista Heights, Cedar Valley High, and Westlake) with the Elementary adjustment that was previously made.
Current Boundary Link here
What does this mean for you?
As required in state code, the district has sent an email and a USPS mailer to you. Additional information regarding this boundary proposal, along with an online form to provide feedback, will be found at https://alpineschools.org/
6. Important Reminder for Parents and Guardians
Please ensure that all student accounts are paid in full and that any outstanding items—such as library books, calculators, textbooks, and other school materials—are returned no later than May 12th.
Students with unpaid balances or unreturned items will not be able to pick up their yearbook (If a yearbook was purchased) nor be able to participate in the Lagoon Day for seniors!!
All school fees must be paid as soon as possible to avoid accounts being sent to Cherrington Collections Agency. Contact Wendy Staheli at [email protected] with any questions you may have.
7. Yearbook Information
Not sure if you bought a yearbook?
Contact Wendy in the Finance Office—she can check for you!
Just a heads up: Yearbook prices increase on May 1st, so purchase soon if you haven’t already.
Reminder:
The yearbook goes up on Thursday, May 1st, to $80. We have about 180 books left.
The last day to purchase a yearbook online is May 16th at noon. After that, yearbooks will only be available for purchase at the Finance Office — while supplies last!
Yearbooks are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and we expect to sell out. Be sure to get yours early!
The finance will be closed on Wednesday and Friday of this week.
