1. National Assistant Principals’ Week
Let’s give a big shout-out to the incredible assistant principals who help keep CVHS running strong. From hallway high-fives to behind-the-scenes problem-solving, these rockstars support our students, staff, and community every single day.
Here is the contact information for our amazing AP team:
A-CE Administrator: Scott Mansfield
CH-GI Administrator: Curtice Twitchell
GL-KR Administrator: Derek Reynolds
KU-PAN Administrator: Colin Gill
PAR-SME Administrator: Bill Sivert
SMITH-Z Administrator: Kenyon Christen
2. Aspire Testing
The Utah Aspire test is a state-mandated assessment for students in grades 9 and 10 that measures their knowledge and skills in key subjects, including English, Science, and Math. It is designed to help gauge student readiness for higher education and career paths. The test is important because it provides valuable data to both students and educators, helping to identify areas for improvement and track academic progress. Additionally, the Aspire test plays a role in determining school performance and accountability, making it an essential tool for shaping educational strategies and supporting student success.
The Aspire Utah End-of-Year Test will begin this Thursday and Friday and will continue through May 2nd. The testing will kick off with the English section, followed by Science, and will conclude with Math. All 9th and 10th-grade students will be participating in these assessments. We want to wish all of our freshmen and sophomores the best of luck as they prepare for and take these important tests!
3. East Shore Deadlines – End of Year
The final deadline for seniors to complete testing on East Shore units is May 16th (the assignment submission deadline is May 15th @ 5 pm). However, we strongly encourage students to finish by May 9th. The suggested May 9th date gives students a buffer in case any issues need to be resolved, like regrading an assignment, retesting, or to free up scheduling issues that can happen with state playoffs or even long lines in the digital curriculum classrooms.
4. Surveys of the District
This week, we will start two district-required surveys for our students. These surveys will assist CVHS to improve on school culture and climate. These surveys help us to see how well we are doing as a school and how we can improve. These surveys are opt-in only surveys. Permission slips have been sent out. If we do not have permission to give the survey, we will not give it to your student. The surveys are the SHARP survey and the CCCS Survey (Culture, Climate, and Connection Survey). Please check the links for any questions.
5. Yearbook
The yearbook this year will be interactive and a lot of fun! We have a limited number of Yearbooks left, and they are going to sell out. Be sure to get yours now—they are $65 until the end of April. If there are any left in May, they will be $80.
6. Chromebook Checks
Yearly Chromebook checks will take place during A1 classes on Tuesday, April 15.
Please ensure your student brings both their school-issued Chromebook and charger to class that day.
If your student is experiencing any issues with their Chromebook, they should inform their A1 teacher during the check.
Students who do not have an A1 class but do have a Chromebook must bring it to the Chromebook Center in D254 before April 17 to complete the check.
Important:
If a Chromebook is not checked, the district will consider it lost and assess a $150 fine.
